As a Finance Coordinator, you’ll support the financial operations of the Kirkland & Ellis Foundation while helping drive efficiency, accuracy, and innovation across the Finance team. This role offers a strong opportunity to build technical expertise, enhance reporting capabilities, and partner with stakeholders on initiatives that improve processes and elevate performance. As your understanding of the Finance team and processes deepens, you will have the opportunity to engage with the broader Finance team to support process transformation and compliance projects.<br><br><ul><li> Financial Operations Excellence: Review, validate, and process payments with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with firm policies, including prioritizing and escalating urgent requests.</li><li> Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in payment workflows, recommend enhancements, and support the implementation of standardized, scalable processes.</li><li> Documentation & Consistency: Develop and maintain clear procedure documentation to improve consistency, reduce errors, and support cross-training efforts.</li><li> Audit Support: Assist with the Foundation’s annual audit by ensuring financial records and processes are properly maintained.</li><li> Reporting & Insights: Prepare and enhance recurring management reports, ensuring data accuracy and efficient compilation of key performance metrics.</li><li> Data Analysis: Support ad hoc reporting requests, delivering clear, actionable insights to inform leadership decisions.</li><li> Vendor Management: Complete and validate vendor setup, including verification of tax documentation and Tax Identification Numbers (TINs) using Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tools.</li><li> Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements across all financial processes.</li><li> Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a primary point of contact for payment-related inquiries, delivering timely and accurate support to stakeholders across the firm.</li><li> Transformation & Innovation: Contribute to initiatives that reduce manual work, introduce automation, and enhance systems and reporting capabilities.</li><li> Program Administration: Support the administration of the firm’s Groundswell Matching program and participate in broader finance transformation projects.<br><br></li></ul><strong>What You’ll Bring<br><br></strong><ul><li> Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; charitable organization experience preferred.</li><li> Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to evaluate processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements with attention to detail.</li><li> Organization & Execution: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.</li><li> Communication: Clear and effective communication skills with a strong stakeholder service mindset.</li><li> Integrity & Discretion: High level of professionalism with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.</li><li> Growth Mindset: Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and a desire to expand technical and analytical capabilities.</li><li> Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office tools, especially Excel (e.g., data analysis, pivot tables, reconciliations); experience with financial systems such as Elite, Coupa, and Power BI is preferred.<br><br></li></ul>If you’re excited to improve financial processes, deliver impactful insights, and grow your career in a collaborative environment, we’d love to hear from you!<br><br><strong>Compensation<br><br></strong>The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Chicago. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary.
