Duration: Long-Term Contract

Performance ResponsibilitiesHealth Services

  • Assist in the performance of health evaluations with referral to the Specialist, Student Health and Wellness as needed
  • Assist in the management of health problem referrals
  • Assist in the provision of routine health screenings, referrals and follow-up of students

Facility and Supply Management

  • Maintain supplies and keep health room and work area clean and neat

Record Keeping and Compliance

  • Review and interpret student health records for compliance to Florida Statutes
  • Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation of screenings, record review and dental programs

Preventative Programs

  • Assist in establishing preventative dental programs for school sites

Additional Duties

  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal, Specialist, Student Health and Wellness or Nursing Supervisor

Required QualificationsEducation

  • High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
  • Completion of a training program to become a medical assistant, or a certified nursing assistant

Experience

  • Two (2) years of experience in providing nursing or direct patient care services of a medical nature in a public health, hospital, clinic, infirmary, or nursing/convalescent home preferred

Certifications and Licenses

  • Current CPR and first aid certification
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver's License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver's License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver's License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required

Required Skills

  • Ability to administer medications safely and accurately
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student health issues
  • Ability to communicate clearly with parents, physicians, other health care workers, faculty and school administrators
  • Ability to communicate with students on their cognitive level
  • Ability to assist in the provision of health assessments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Control Principles and Universal Precautions

Reports To

  • Specialist, Student Health and Wellness in collaboration with the Principal.
